Your rights over your data
Last updated:
Your personal data is yours. Here we explain what rights you have, how to exercise most of them from the app and how to send us a request with the form on this page. What data we keep and why is in the Privacy policy.
In short
- You can view and download your data, edit what the app allows, and delete your account in the app.
- For anything else, use the form or write to support@yutemi.app from your account email.
- It is free and we reply within 15 business days at most.
What rights you have
They are granted by the European Union's General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and by Colombia's Law 1581 of 2012. We apply them to everyone who uses Yutemi, wherever they live.
Access
Know whether we process your data, which data, why, where it comes from, who we share it with and how long we keep it, and get a copy. In the app: Profile and settings → Account → "Export my data".
Rectification
Correct data that is wrong or complete data that is missing. In the app: edit changeable data, including today's journal. Past entries are read only. Write to us to correct them or change your email. Sync conflicts may retain alternative text versions, visible in the entry and export.
Erasure
Ask us to delete your data when it is no longer needed, when you withdraw your consent or when you object to its use. In the app: delete your entire account, including moods and alternative texts, with Profile and settings → Account → "Delete my account". Write to us to request deletion of specific data without deleting the account.
Objection
Object to us using your data based on legitimate interest, such as usage measurement. In the app: turn off Profile and settings → Account → "Share usage data".
Restriction
Ask us to keep your data without using it while we review a complaint of yours, for example if you say some data is incorrect.
Portability
Receive your data in a structured, commonly used file, to take it to another service. The "Export my data" file does exactly that.
Withdraw your consent
You can withdraw it at any time, without affecting what we did with it before. For example, withdraw notification permission or delete your account. Write to us to request deletion of specific journal data without deleting your account.
Not be subject to automated decisions
Yutemi does not make automated decisions that significantly affect you and does not build profiles about you.
Complain to an authority
If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can go to the data protection authority (see If you are not satisfied).
Why we may process your data
Each use of your data has a legal basis:
- To provide the service you ask for when you create your account: storing and syncing what you create, giving you access to Pro and answering your support messages.
- With your consent: the journal, which may contain sensitive data about your health or private life, and phone notifications. In Colombia, all information is processed with the authorization you give when you create your account.
- Legitimate interest: measuring in general terms how the app is used in order to improve it, and sign-in logs to protect your account. You can object to usage measurement at any time.
- Legal obligation: responding to requests from competent authorities when the law requires it.
Send your request
The form opens your email app with the message ready to send to support@yutemi.app. This site does not store or send anything by itself. Send it from your Yutemi account email: that is how we know it is you.
If the form does not open your email, write directly to support@yutemi.app with the subject "Personal data".
How we check it is you
- We handle requests that come from your account email, so we never hand your data to someone else.
- If you no longer have access to that email, we may ask for additional information, only what is needed to confirm your identity.
- We will never ask for your password.
- If you write on behalf of someone else (for example, a minor in your care), you will need to show that you represent them.
How long we take
- Inquiries (knowing what data we have and how we use it): within 10 business days at most.
- Claims (correcting, deleting, objecting, restricting or reporting a breach): within 15 business days at most from when the request is complete.
- In any case, within the one month set by the GDPR. If a case is complex and we need more time, we will tell you beforehand and explain why.
- It is free. We could only refuse or charge a reasonable fee if a request is clearly unfounded or repetitive, and we would explain why.
If you are not satisfied
Write to us first: we can almost always sort it out. If you are still not satisfied, you can lodge a complaint with the data protection authority:
- In Colombia: the Superintendence of Industry and Commerce (www.sic.gov.co), after completing the process with us.
- In the European Union: the supervisory authority of the country where you live, work or where the infringement took place. For example, in Spain it is the Spanish Data Protection Agency (www.aepd.es). The list of authorities is on the European Data Protection Board's website.
